Note: The Royal Life Saving Swim Teacher License meets the requirements of AV2.2 of the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPO) (reference, requires GSPO access)

The Swim Teacher License Standards

When you become a licensed swim teacher, you agree to the following standards:  

  1. Industry Standards (the GSPO)
  2. A Code of Conduct
  3. Safeguarding children policy
  4. Health and fitness
  5. Maintaining ongoing CPR skills
  6. Ongoing professional development
  7. A complaints handling process
  8. A Swim Teacher License Declaration and Agreement

Criteria

The applicant is satisfactorily provide / complete the following to be  

  1. Agree to the eight (8) Swim Teacher License Standards
  2. Provide evidence of current valid CPR certificate (HLTAID009)
  3. Provide evidence  of SISSS00132 – Swimming and Water Safety Teacher skill set (or statement of attainment)
  4. Provide evidence of current valid Blue/ Exemption card
  5. Provide evidence of Industry Onboarding / Experience / Professional Development

Royal Life saving reserves its right to refuse to issue a license for any reasons it considers reasonable.

Minimum Age: 16 years at time of application

Applicants will need to provide a valid USI and personal details at time registration (application).
