The Royal Life Saving Provide First Aid Award provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations‚ include community and workplace settings. The course aims to establish competence in the required skills and knowledge, judgement and physical abilities required to provide a first aid response to a casualty.
 
Pre-requisite: There are no pre-requisites for this course
Minimum age: 14 years
Course Length: 8 hours
Units of Competency: HLTAID001 Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
Re-Accreditation: 3 years (CPR 12 months)

Certificate III in Swimming Pool and Spa Service

Qualification Description
This is an entry level qualification that provides the competencies required by swimming pool and spa technicians to routinely maintain swimming pools and spas in domestic‚ commercial and public settings.

The qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.

Occupational titles include:

Swimming pool and spa maintenance technician.

Certificate IV in Swimming Pool and Spa Service

This qualification provides swimming pool and spa technicians with the competencies required to treat water quality problems as well as service and repair the key components of domestic, commercial and public swimming pools and spas.
The qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.

Hydrotherapy Rescue Award

HYDRO RESCUE

The RLSS Hydrotherapy Rescue Award is recognised as the minimum standard for a qualified physiotherapist.

This course will enhance he knowledge and skills to develop the awareness of specific rescue equipment‚ level of judgement‚ technique and physical ability required to safely carry out water rescues in a hydrotherapy venue.
 
The Hydrotherapy Rescue Award offers a certificate of attendance which will outline the theoretical and practical skills demonstrated for water rescue skills.

Candidates need to successfully complete the practical components under the award conditions in order to achieve a Certificate of attendance in Hydrotherapy Rescue.

P - Bronze Medallion Award

2020P BM SOA


The Royal Life Saving Bronze Medallion Award provides the minimum requirements for those persons wishing to provide supervision and integrated rescue responses in an aquatic environment. The course aims to develop the level of knowledge‚ judgement, technique and physical ability required to carry out safe water rescues.

Pre-requisite: There are no pre-requisites for this course
Minimum age: 14 years
Course Length: 11 hours
Units of Competency: HLTAID001 Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and SISCAQU002 Perform Basic Water Rescues
Re-Accreditation: 12 months

The RLSS Pool Lifeguard course offers participants with acceptable standards of knowledge, judgement and physical abilities in the supervision of people in swimming pools.  Essential modules include: accident prevention, administration, public relations, education, rescue response and basic technical operations.
Minimum age requirement is 16 years.

Pre-requisite include current a First Aid (HLTAID003).  A copy of this qualification including the units of competency will be required at the time of your booking if issued from another provider.

Upon successful course completion, participants will be issued a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment with the following units of competency:
 
  • SISCAQU002       Perform basic water rescues
  • SISCAQU006       Supervise clients in aquatic locations
  • SISCAQU007       Perform advanced water rescues
  • PUAEME001        Provide emergency care
  • PUAEME003        Administer oxygen in an emergency 
  • HLTAID001           Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

The Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Award needs to be renewed every 12 months.

P - Pool Lifeguard Award Update with CPR

2020P PLG Up

The Pool Lifeguard Re-Accreditation course is for Lifeguard professionals who have the current Pool Lifeguard Units of Competency.
 
This course will provide participants with acceptable standards of knowledge‚ judgement and physical abilities in the supervision of people in swimming pools. Essential modules include: accident prevention‚ administration‚ public relations‚ education‚ rescue response and basic technical operations.
Minimum age requirement is 16 years.

Pre-requisites include an a current First Aid (HLTAID003) and an expiring Royal Life Saving Society Pool Lifeguard & Oxygen including units of competency

  • PUAEME003  Administer oxygen in an emergency

Upon successful course completion, participants will be issued with Pool Lifeguard Re-Accreditation certificate 

The Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard  needs to be renewed every 12 months.

RLSSQ Swim Teacher

The Royal Life Saving Swim Teacher Course provides the minimum requirements for those wishing to be a learn to swim instructor.
 
Once your certificate is issued, you will have the opportunity to apply for a RLSSQ Swim Teacher Licence as outlined in the Guidelines for Safer Pool Operations. The Swim Teacher Licensee Handbook will be provided to candidates during the face to face component of the course.
