The Bronze Cross ® is a lifesaving award issued by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) that builds upon the skills learned in the Bronze Medallion. It focuses on developing advanced knowledge, judgement, and physical ability in aquatic rescues, including personal survival and emergency care. Successful candidates demonstrate proficiency in performing various rescue techniques and handling challenging situations in the water.

Prerequisites:
- Candidates must hold or have previously held the Bronze Medallion or a higher award, according to the Wikipedia article on lifesaving awards.
Training:
- It involves both theoretical and practical components, including demonstrations of rescue skills, resuscitation techniques, and responding to simulated emergency scenarios, says the Lifesaving Society.
Practical Skills:

The following physical activities will occur during the course unless you advise of any physical difficulties or limitations: kneeling‚ bending over‚ crouching‚ standing‚ leaning‚ sitting‚ pushing, lifting weights, swimming long distances, towing, diving, carrying and other physical activity.
The specific requirements required for successful completion of the Bronze Star are:

- A Theory Assessment
- Performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation on an adult manikin on the ground
- Practical water Assessment including:
a) Timed Tow (50m 3min)
b) Swim (600m in 17 minutes)
c) Defensive Techniques
d) Perform spinal injury management
e) Underwater Search
f) Rescue & Resuscitation
g) Initiative in an incident
