Bronze Rescue Awards – Non Accredited
The Bronze Rescue Awards include Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross Awards. The courses (awards) includes theory and practical components delivered in one day. Students learn how to recognise water hazards, perform reach-and-throw rescues, execute contact and non-contact tows, and manage spinal injuries. The Core components combines practical water rescue, emergency care, CPR, and a theoretical exam.
The courses below, are designed for people aged 12 to 18, to provide skills in aquatic safety and rescue aligned to the National Swimming & Water Safety Framework.

Non Accredited Training
This course/ program is non-accredited training and does not lead to a VET Statement of Attainment. It is generally not suitable for workplace purposes. However please refer to the below information for the pathway to upgrade to a VET Statement of Attainment.
⇣ Which course is right for me / my child ⇣
- The content is similar between each course, however the targeted age group is
- Bronze Star: 12 to 14 years
- Bronze Medallion: 14 to 16 years
- Bronze Cross: 16 years plus
- There is not specific minimum and maximum age for these courses
- The main difference, is that each course build on the skills and ability of the prior course and is hared in content (such as a longer swimming requirement).
- If student is enrolled in a course and does not meet the requirement, but meets the requirement of a lower course they will be awarded the lower course (or a re-assessment on another day).

These courses, can be upgraded to Units of Competence issued by Royal Life Saving Trainihg RTO 5431.
- Bronze Star to Nationally Accredited Bronze Star
- Bronze Medallion & Cross –Nationally Accredited Bronze Medallion
The Retail price of these courses is $200 (Bronze Star) and $220 (Bronze Medallion). All student that complete the non-accredited versions can upgrade within three months for the cost different ($120) and completing the relevant assessments.
