PD Fatigue

Self-care during and after a shift is very important. Fatigue management assists you to know and look for warning signs, have an understanding of the body systems and the various effects of fatigue.

Determining all the factors that cause fatigue can be difficult.  

Introduction:

In work related fatigue, there are a range of different elements that can cause fatigue:
  • Work schedules
  • Commuting
  • Tasks and duties
  • Work Environment
  • Work Relationships
Having an understanding in all elements will enable you to have control over your fatigue and be able to manage it or minimise the effects; which will increase your professionalism and work ethics.
 
In non-related fatigue, Modern day living can be busy - if not hectic - and often comes with competing demands and significant pressures.

  • Household chores and maintenance
  • Parenting commitments
  • Extended family commitments
  • Personal relationships (i.e. spouse/partner/close friends)

By the end of this course, you will have a knowledge of
  • What is fatigue
  • The broad science behind fatigue at a “body-systems” level
  • The differences between work-related and non-work-related fatigue
  • The symptoms of fatigue and,
  • The various effects of fatigue across a range of contexts

Like many of the professional development products on offer through Royal Life Saving the content is highly contextualised to the aquatic industry environment and uses a range screen designs, interactions, visual representations, scenarios, reflection tools and knowledge checks to maximise engagement and learning.
 
Participants will require a level of English to be able to give and receive instructions, read signage, read content and complete questionnaires. LLN skill set of level 3 in writing and reading is the minimum requirement for this course.

On successful completion, participants will receive the Fatigue Management Certificate and the course has been recognised by Royal Life Saving QLD for 1 hour of professional development.
